The Red Kite, a non-migratory bird, appears to prefer the cooler climate on our shores as opposed to the hot and humid hills of the Med or Africa’s arid lands. Carmarthen’s Kite Brewery however has bucked the trend and headed across the pond with their latest American inspired ale; West Coast Red.
Available this month, the red ale brewed with hops endemic to the West coast of the U.S. of A. The beer, bearing California’s state symbol on its pump clip, provides a punch of citrus on the nose with a pronounced palate of grapefruit, pine and berries alongside a rich complex maltiness throughout.
“We are very excited by it,” said Rhys Anstee from the brewery, “It looks and tastes fantastic.”
