Want a little slice of heaven to brighten up your day? Want to make yourself some dough? Want me to stop with the pizza puns and just get on with the recipe? Okay, I’ve got you sorted.
When it comes to what beer to use, wheat beers and IPAs work pretty well but I chose to use tomos a lilford’s Rosemary Ale as the herbs added to the brew really bring out the Italian flavours in the sauce.
All you need to have a rocking pizza party is:
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of beer
- 1 sachet of yeast
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tbsp of sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- Whatever the heck you want to top it with!
First get your beer and pour it into a bowl. Add the yeast and the sugar and just leave that to settle until it begins to go frothy on top.
Mix your flour and salt together in a mixing bowl, then drop in your olive oil and the beer concoction. Mix it all that together until it comes together in a nice dough.
Move the dough onto a floured surface and knead that sucker for a few minutes.
Wipe some oil on the inside of the mixing bowl, put the dough back in and cover it with a tea towel and leave it for about an hour.
Preheat the oven to 190°C.
Pull off a chunk of the dough depending on how big a pizza you want and flatten it into a pizza-ish shape and put it on a baking tray with some grease proof paper (or a pizza stone if you’re fancy). Spoon some sauce on the base. You can go more conventional and just use a tomato paste or apasta sauce, or you can go pretty wild and use a BBQ sauce. Then chuck on the toppings you want. I went with some Trealy Farm chorizo, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, tomato pasta sauce and oregano.
